CLUB CRICKET MEMORIES WANTED
Cricket is a game rich in memories.
Cricket enthusiasts thrive on nostalgia.
More has been written about cricket than any other sport. Much of what has been written is about cricket at international, national or county level.
Precious little has been written about cricket at club level.
This is surprising considering the number of people who have been connected with club cricket over the years.
Besides the cricketers, there are umpires, scorers, coaches, ground staff, spectators, reporters, family members, committee members, tea ladies, bar staff, organisers of cricket tours, dinners and social events plus 101 other activities by unseen and unsung heroes that help to make cricket clubs tick.
We want your anecdotes, memories and photographs of events that made you proud of your club.
Memories can be wide-ranging, but identifiable with a specific club that has figured prominently in your cricketing life – either as a player or as a friend or supporter of your local club.
Stourbridge & District Cricket Society will celebrate its Golden Jubilee in four years’ time. The Society plans to celebrate its 50th anniversary in 2022 with a book of recollections, contributed by individuals with a shared interest in cricket at club level.
All submissions that are included in the end product will be properly accredited to the contributor.
Contact us now if you can help – and don’t forget to tell us the name of the club!
