MEETING ON 26 JANUARY WITH BARBARA DANIELS
The above meeting has been amended as the other billed guest speaker, Jo Chamberlain, is unable to attend. Nevertheless, we are pleased that Barbara will be able to join us, and we very much look forward to meeting her.
Barbara will be the Society’s fourth female guest, following in the footsteps of Rachael Heyhoe Flint, Cally Barlow (widow of Eddie), and Isabell Duncan. Given the much-increased popularity of women’s cricket, we anticipate a greater number of women cricketers to visit us in the future.
We ask members to provide strong support for the meeting which will commence at 2pm.

MEMBERS’ MEMORIES AND REMINISCENCES WANTED!
As the New Year is upon us, we should remember that our Jubilee year is not yet past.
To mark the Jubilee, it had been hoped that the Stourbridge & District Cricket Society might write a history of its first ‘fifty’. An attempt was made, but it soon became apparent that the content was unlikely to become a best-seller!
However, something must be possible.
Hey presto! Here is our revised plan of action.
It will be far more interesting if individual members contribute their memories and recollections of the Society as they see it.
Therefore, regardless of age or length of membership, all members are invited to submit their memories and reminiscences. Suggested topics could be: Favourite Five Speakers, Terry’s Trips, Enjoying the Unexpected, Vocal Accompaniment, My First S&DCS Meeting, Cricket/Football Guests, A Pleasant Surprise, Life Before Email and the Internet etc., etc.
Each contribution obviously must be relevant to the Society. The choice of topic is yours. Articles must be typed and between 100 and 750 words. Should you wish to write a longer article, please advise the approximate length, and await the editor’s approval before proceeding further.
Alternatively, we should not ignore as a topic, any challenges and setbacks that have been faced, and overcome.
It is proposed that the end product be published in a book to commemorate the Golden Jubilee with all proceeds to the benefit of the Society.
If you decide to write an article, please click the Contact Form before 28 February 2023 to send details of your intended contribution so that support for the overall project can be estimated and the overall range of topics can be noted.
We look forward to hearing from all of you
