Formed in 1972, the 'District' in the Society's name refers to the various areas in and around Stourbridge, when originally, all local clubs were invited to join as affiliate members. Wordsley-born Don Kenyon was our first President. He was succeeded in 1996 by Martin Horton, another former Worcestershire and England player. Nowadays the Society warmly welcomes people from all points of the compass.
The principal aims of the Society are to provide a forum for like-minded cricket enthusiasts to meet, talk and reminisce about the game during the winter months.
Meetings are held in the pavilion of Stourbridge CC on the third Thursday between October and April. (Dates may vary in December and April). The Society is most grateful to Stourbridge CC and Worcestershire CCC for their continued help and support.
The Society is an affiliated member of the Council of Cricket Societies, which enables us to exchange information about new speakers and events. Guest speakers are invited to talk for the first innings (± 45 mins). The second innings, a Q&A session, allows members to put questions to the speaker.
Our newsletter Boundary View is published three times a year and are available on the website.
Throughout the year, we arrange visits to Test and first-class cricket grounds and places of cricket interest. Various members of the Society have written books connected with cricket at various levels. Please contact us for details and availability.
